The debut ALEXANDRA AUBIE footwear collection features a mix of luxurious, high fashion looks that are undeniably steeped in classic inspiration, yet smartly updated with unexpected design details. Designer Angela Obidi also incorporates a state-of-the-art, anatomically engineered insole into each style for enhanced wearability and support. Capped toes, blocks of color and texture, aged brass buttonry, sculpted heels and collar-like folds are among the key points of distinction in the opening range of “modern nostalgic” designs. Red is another dominant theme, adding a witty punch of color throughout. Obidi further celebrates her brand’s birth by naming each look in honor of the strength, courage and determination of eminent female leaders from around the world – both past and present.

The duo-tone, all-leather Cleopatra redefines the iconic “granny” boot with a capped toe and “staggered lacing” effect in contrast red or cream against pure black. A sleek 4” high-density cupped plastic heel adds futuristic flair to the look, named for the legendary last Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. Nefertiti, which is a bootie variation of Cleopatra, comes in all black, with a piping detail of cream or red. It is named for the legendary Ancient Egyptian queen.

The striking Jingha tall boot juxtaposes a broad band of rich leather with a ground of supple suede and also features an edgy 4” high-density cupped plastic heel and a dimensional fold finished with aged brass buttons. Nzinga “Jingha” Mbande, Queen of Angola, inspires the name.

Joan gives a refined upgrade to the classic pump, cast in rich leather with a 4” sculpted heel and heightened by a dimensional collar in red with aged button detail. Obidi named this style in reverence to her own loving mother and Joan of Arc. Margaret, the platform version of Joan, is named for Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of England.

The captivating Golda, in black or cream leather, culls its provocative élan from a curvy 4” sculpted heel and split vamp that reveals a contrast red lining. Its name is inspired by Golda Meir, first female Prime Minister of Israel. Ellen, the platform version of Golda, is named for Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf the esteemed first female Prime Minister of Liberia.

The rakishly majestic Elizabeth leather bootie steps forth with a 4” sculpted heel, lace-up detail, and covered platform vamp featuring a dramatic open mesh overlay. The winsome look is named in homage to the legendary Queen Elizabeth I of England.

Amina is a modern take on the classic “Mary Jane” pump. It comes in duo-tone combinations of red/black, grey/black and cream/brown. Its name is inspired by Queen Amina of Zaria, a Nigerian queen from the 16th century.
